What to get F or M Pastel or Normal F?

Melisssss Aug 05, 2005 08:34 PM

Ok here is another question I shall through out to the group. I have a small normal male. Should I buy a normal female? Female Pastel or Male Pastel? As my next snake. I have never had BP before and would like to try my hand at breeding in the future. So far, things with my guy are going great. I just go back and forth on this issue every two minutes.

since you never owned a ball ........and I am not sure what snakes you owned at all........

I would say get a normal female and get some experience at keeping and breeding......

after you know how to breed and keep and get babies eating and all........then get some more females(keep your own baby girls) and then after they are a year old get a male pastel........they will be cheaper still by that time......heck..mybe free the way people think they will drop.(more like $200 to $500).......

have fun....balls are cool ...even normal ones........

My other snake is an Everglades Rat Snake I have had for about a year. I should have added that in

Thanks for the advice though. I am so torn so it helps to hear from others.

No matter wich way you go you will need an adult female. Raising one up can take 2-4 years. If you have the money and want to get things moving then I would suggest looking for a sub adult or adult male Pastel and buying a normal adult female or two. Buy the best you can afford. No one wants ugly Pastels. As far as females go if you are looking to breed this year spend the extra money and buy females that are already over 1500g and solid feeders. I would say 1500.00 or so on the Pastel and around 500.00ea for the normal females.
