i had some long ago and was also suprised how easy they are to keep. esp. after hearing horror stories bout them being notorious nonfeeding captives.i found them to be quite the opposite unlike getula speakin of which got 7 of the 12 easterns eating live pinks so far ill get some pics up soon
cool score w/the pyros good luck with'um

I have read some can be difficult to feed but I love their colors. Yours is great looking. how do you find their tempermeant compared to other kings.
Easier to handle but hide more?
Thanks

JETZEN Aug 06, 2005 08:36 AM

Well they're not near as jittery as some of the milks and not as fearless as the blotched.
Mine will only eat live, i'm sure they can be converted tho.
Reclusiveness, not very, i often see them cruising in their enclosures.

Thanks for the info. I have been considering either a high white CA king or Arizona mt king. Both very different looking but like the look of both.
Want only one so not sure yet. I Have read mixed things about CA king tempermeant so leaning towards Arizona mt king.
Going to reptile show soon so have to decide .

Thanks

I'd go with the pyro, just make sure it's well started captive bred that likes rodents.

Ritas Aug 07, 2005 02:16 PM

Thanks . I will go with the Arizona. I will make sure its eating pinkies.

Very nice man. Do you have a local on that pair?? They are both very clean. I really like the Pyros in their natural form but I was very disapointed at the price of them in Daytona last year. Seems like the price dropped on everything that wasn't a morph I don't think I am gonna be able to afford a trip to Mexico next year so instead I am going to try to pair up my male and go to Arizona again. That is unless I can find one from the same local online but I kinda hope not so I have ta go!!! I did find out the range has a differant name than I have been using. I have been calling them the Grahm Mnts but I guess they are the Pinaleno Mnts.

That's two pics of same snake, the 1.0 of 1.2 i recently picked up at a show. All i know about them is they were produced in Wa. They each had a $50 price, the guy was getting out of Lamps and concentrating on guttata, so i traded two decent corns and a $20 for a nice 1.1 then the guy remembered me from a frozen mice deal and tossed in an extra female, lol, i deal with some great people.
The price of pyro pryros was down at Daytona? prolly because of competion. How about the other pyro subs?
Those pyro in your pics look to have a higher band count than mine. they are very nice and stout!

snakesunlimited1 Aug 07, 2005 02:13 AM

Yeah I remember you bragging about them and the deal before I want a female from the same locale so I can hopefully match him and the band count. I like your animals and really all the pyros I see. The price of $50 for them at their age seems way to low. The price of all the pyros I have seen is just to low for how nice they look. Last year at Daytona there where babies for $25-$50. I don't get it man

He was letting them go cheap because corns sell better, and that's what he's doing. Seems to me kings are for specialists and corns are for everyone esp. newbies. sorry if i was braggin about that pyro deal but i could'nt believe it myself.

snakesunlimited1 Aug 07, 2005 02:19 PM

With a deal like that brag away man. In my opinion anytime you get a king for a corn straight up its a good deal. Those are killer animals that you got.
