I am keeping large amount of crickets (2000) that I keep in a tubaware bin in the garage.
The flys have been bothering them and now there are larva in with the crickets.
Any one know how to get rid of these or what I should do?
Help
Thanks

If it came with a lid, cut the middle out and replace it with screen. You can use a glue gun or duct tape to attach it.

Use a screen lid, or find a place inside were there are no flys. I personaly would dump those crix. The fly's are laying eggs on the dead crickets and maggots are forming.

Ken, you have been given good advice, you need to put screen in the lid of your ben, to allow for air flow and I would dump the crickets and clean your container throughly, the maggots are not a good thing. It would be best if you could move them in doors some place that does not get as hot as your garage, the heat helps breed the flies and maggots. I would further recommend changing whatever food you are using as a moisture source every few days. You can also buy a fly strip and hang it near the crickets to help combat the flies. I use the kind that you pull out and the long sticky strip is inside, they are safe for other pets as well. Air circulation and heat are the too main problems. Have you found more dead crickets with the summer heat? Good luck J
like the others : dump and clean, then fix the lid
then make sure good air flow, temps in the 77-85 range (about)
make sure the container is not too damp.
when I started I found that too many crikets to close would die very fast... and just a tad to much moisture would create a smelly mess of them.
