Exo Terra heat wave rocks?

I was at the local petstore today and they are having a good sale on these but I was wondering if they are safe. I know the old type was prone to burning your snake so they were to be avoided. Has anyone tried these kind before, any info would be appreciated.

Don't think they are any different than the old ones, haven't really looked at them myself. You could check and see if they have a thermostate or rheostate to control the temperature, if not, I wouldn't buy them.
