Red Axanthic?

chas3323 Aug 06, 2005 02:44 PM

Can some one point me in the right direction to find some info on this morph. Is it res. dom. or codom? Who was the first to produce it? Is the het form a visual morph? Is this a color or pattern or both morph? What color is absent? I know its been crossed with the pastel but are there any other crosses? Thank you in advance. Chas

You can look on Ralph Davis's site...in his matrix section for more info.
It's codominant....het red axanthics are black backed and the red axanthic is the super form. Its both color and pattern...yellow is absent from what I can tell...
Corey Woods was the first to produce it...and he's been trying for a couple of crosses but not sure if anything happened with them...I know Ralph has been trying to do crosses too but can't seem to get many good clutches from it....so we'll just have to see in the next couple of seasons what happens with them....

Oz, from Ozzyboids, has produced quite a few nice looking het red axanthics this season. There are a few others that own het reds, but not many. It's still a fairly new morph. Becasue of this I don't think too many crosses have been attempted yet. I believe there is a lot of potential with this morph. I think the pastel het red is a awesome looking animal. I'm looking to invest in it sometime next season.

Corey and Ralph are the only people with Red Axanthics. Corey owns I think 3 or 4?...not real sure...and Ralph just has a male from what I know of. There are a few people here and there with het red axanthics...but it is a pretty new morph so it'll take a while before it becomes more spread out...
