how long is too long?

harlanm Aug 06, 2005 04:56 PM

i have had a gargoyle egg incubating for 76 days now (and i may have found it a few days after it was laid). the temps have ranged from 75 to 84. the rhac book says about 45 to 70 days.
at what point is it in there too long? i have heard of people helping pip the eggs. any suggestions on what i should do? as it stands im just gonna wait it out and see what happens

longest i've had crested take was like 87 days i think.
the first ones i opened were at about 85 days and i don't think they were going to hatch because i've opened them about a week ( i think) prematurely and had a small but healthy gecko jump out.
the first few times a female lays eggs they can be weak or undersized babies, or not hatch at all. it depends on her size, diet, and age.

well she was about 2 years old , but this was her first egg. the egg has grown well and is much bigger than when it was laid. how long should i wait before i open it? would it be dangerous to do at like 83 days? how would i do it?
