A while back, about 2 months ago, i caught another, adult northern redbelly snake. well i got home today to find a dried up baby, so looking around the tank i found about 7 more i think the total live count is like 6, i will see better tomorrow. when should these little guys start eating? should i seperate the mother or should they be fine in the 10 gal tank with her and a yearling? This is the first time i have had babies so please advise

Wow, 12 is a good number.

Things may be complicated like this. But the best ways to keep them would be either...

Each baby in it's own deli cup with moist moss. This would be good for keeping feeding records.

Or....

A few babies per each small plastic tank. With moss as a substrate.

The babies should take to f/t slugs or f/t worms within a week of birth.

3 have eaten small live slugs, and they are only a day old!, i admit i think it is an impressive clutch, i read that 6-8 is a normal number for redbellies. the three that have eaten are in a seperate large deli cup on paper towel that is misted occasionally but also has a water dish. they're SOOOOO TINY.
