Famous kings...the one Hillson wishes he didn't let go!

agalinis Aug 06, 2005 09:53 PM

Wow, it's been a while...that's what too much work and women will do to you! Like I say, "women, can't live with them, can't fit more than 3 in a trunk!"

Hope everyone here is well...I still recognize some names, especially Keith "Badger Fan" Hillson LOL BTW Hillson, the Wolverines are [bleep] and Roll Tide!

Anyway, here's a picture of Augustus, a 9-10 year old Darien Co., GA boy I got from Hillson a couple of years ago.

I did the best I could with SerpWidget, measuring the curves in short increments, and came out with 69-70" using the photo where he's stretched out; I was directly over him and the bright line along his back is his spine so except for some curves around his head/parts of his body, it's pretty accurate. He was 67" 1.5 years ago so it stands to reason; he weighs 5.9 lbs. now. The scale is 6 inches and you have to take 1/4 quarter inch off each end (where the scale actually begins and ends). If I can keep this rat/snake wrecker going for 5 more years or so I don't know what will keep him from 74-76".

Take care folks, and peace.

Hi John!
Here's a pic of "Big John" - currently at 75" (next to an aluminum yard stick) (2nd pic shows him cruisin' in the front lawn) (Third pic is my hand holding him down for a close-up). He's been a "rat wrecker" himself for some time, but he's gettin' pretty old now and only takes an occasional mouse.

See ya' in 2 weeks!

Hi Zee,

Wow is all I can say...that's a gorgeous snake and a beast! Now I think you can understand why I can't let my "Big Boy," as I call him; he's way to nice and the largest king I've owned to date, and a gentle giant of a kingsnake. I was also being a bit conservative in his length...when he folds end to end in his 36" slide front he looks (clearly) more like 72"

How much length, in your opinion, can I get on "Big Boy" should he live another 5-7 years? He eats when he wants (usually 2 medium/large rats every 2 weeks) but will go off feeding for about 4 months per year as it cools down - sometimes he goes off by choice for a month every now and again. But when he eats, he's serious about it!

Take care man, and I'll see you when you get here. I recognize "Blueking" and didn't know it was you!

Hi there, again. I think Augustus' diet is just fine ( a medium rat every week is plenty for him). For him to not want to eat a couple of times per year is okay. This is his way of limiting his calorie intake since he's not as active as my Eastern Indigo, which by the way is about the same exact weight as Augustus. The only difference is that the Indigo has a higher metabolism and stays more active than an Eastern Kingsnake and needs to eat at least a medium rat a week. So that's my way of saying that Augustus has more than enough to eat and all you have to do is make sure that he doesn't get too obese so he can live a long life. And yes, I believe he'll cross the 6 foot mark real soon, but may stop growing anytime - It all depends on genetics from the parents & grandparents. I have a Kingsnake (and so does Keith) that is just under 24 months old and already over 4 foot long (That kingsnake's father was a 6 foot plus GA. animal from Echols county, GA.). So there's another 6 footer up-and-coming! Here's a pic of him taken a few months ago:

John Hays, Holy [bleep]. Long time. Haven't heard from you since the day days of the "who's the biggest snake Brooksi or Easterns" wars! LOL
Good to see you back.

What's up Bobby?! Long time indeed! Hope you're doing well and keeping 'ole Hillson in line LOL. Been so busy with work and horn-dogging that I haven't posted in a while.

I'm supposed to lend Hillson a female Eastern I have so he can breed her...but I'm worried he may whip out his "milksnake" and ruin her LOL.

Take care and I'll be posting more these days.
