Well I had 2 as a pet. And have a couple outside in my yard that are wild, although technically they are probably pretty tame now since I've been feeding them.
I've noticed a little individual differences in some so some are more jumpy then others. Most do eventually calm down a little. It's cool to watch them walking around since adults rarely seem to even hop if left to there own devices. I do know that some will grow big 3-5 inches is commonly listed in guides, but I swear I've seen one or two slightly bigger. Another cool fact is that if it's cold where you live you might see them more active in the day.
The hardest thing about keeping one is that it is a very small toadlet once it starts eating. I had to grass sweep with a net to get those little hoppers, I suppose fruit flys would work too. Also, mine never estiv./hibernated, but still lived 8-10 years. I forget the exact number. I was a kid then though, so I bet with a balanced diet, etc. I could have got that a bit longer.
