getting settled?

what is a good amount of time to let ur tegu get really settled in before you start handling it regularly and stuff like that

It depends on the tegu. At first just try to approach him, if he runs back off. If he stays put then try to reach in and see how he reacts. If he seems relaxed go ahead and pet him. The first few times you try to pick him up I suggest putting your hand in front of him when he's walking then slowly pick him up when he walks over it. If he starts to struggle/run hold on to him to get him back in the cage or whatever but you should let him go so he doesn't get agraid of you. After he grows up some you can probably hold on to him if he occasionly tries to struggle and he might settle back down. If you know all this and are just wondering how long to wait to start the whole tamming process I think a few days are enough.
