Where Can I Purchase Adjustable Plastic Or Metal Vents For A Terrarium?

Daniele Aug 07, 2005 10:51 AM

I'll be in the U.S. for my summer vacation, and I'd like to purchase a supply of small round adjustable plastic or metal vents. I saw them on terariums several years ago at a herp show, so I know they exist. The only ones I've found doing a search on the Internet are those seen in the link below:

http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1294789&cp=1254881.1255048.1259752

Unfortunately, these are aluminum, and are not adjustable...

Thanks for your help!

Most vents you find at hardware stores/home centers are going to be fixed vents like the one you've already seen. However, there are a few adjustable vents that you can get. The problem with these vents are that they are intended to be used in a concrete block foundation and are sized to fit a standard cinder block opening, meaning they measure roughly 8 inches by 16 inches. That's a pretty big vent for most cage applications. There are smaller vents that are adjustable but these are mostly intended for use in stereo or audio/visual equipment cabinets. Those smaller adjustable vents are probably going to be mainly mail order. A good place to start looking would be www.roeckler.com Additionally you MIGHT find something similar at a computer store like MicroCenter.
