egg questions

mistysprouse Aug 07, 2005 12:13 PM

so I just thought I would post a few random questions today since sundays are usually slower on here.

My eggs are nearing hatching day 56 is end of the next week. I had 8 100% het albino eggs. 6 of the 8 eggs have started the denting in, (which is normal I am pretty sure at this time). 2 of the eggs haven't and 1 is one I have been watching for awhile cause it is harder to see the veins in this one like the other ones. So it is normal to have most dent and some not and still get them to hatch? or are the chances these 2 eggs might be goners?

next question, when the eggs were layed all 8 were stuck together, well I got to thinking there is one egg that barely shows as it is more or less under the other eggs. When this one starts to hatch will it come out under the pile or will it find the small end of the egg that is showing and come out there? any one have experience with this?

I think it will be a good week for me, these are due to hatch and one of my other females I think will lay my next clutch any day this week too!!!

pic is on the day the eggs were layed, the one hidden is on the backside and can't be seen.

Hi, Misty.

Congrats on your clutch. The excitement and anticipation must be near overwhelming. Is this from a normal x normal breeding or is a morph involved? Either way, nothing is cooler than seeing their little snouts beginning to poke out.

What temperature are you incubating at? What incubation medium are you using. What type of incubator set up are you using?

At 89 degrees, eggs will usually start denting in around day 30 or so. As they get closer to hatching they become more pliable and when you get even closer to hatching, they can separate from their cluster.

Regarding the one on the bottom, it might be possible for you to gently separate the eggs and spread them evenly on the floor of your incubation chamber -- just make sure you keep the side that is pointing up still pointing up when you do this (don't rotate or flip them).

Best wishes,
Joe

Misty - going by my one cutch expereince - a couple of the eggs started denting some did not - my guess is if the two eggs aren't dying away - they are probably good

Mine were also laid like that with one barried in the center but they all hatched out without any problems. Actually the front two hatched out first, then the top egg kinda sank down allowing the ones underneath to hatch without any problems.

Congrats - let me tell you - if you think this is bad (the waiting) wait until they start to pip - the worst three days of my life (LOL - just kidding).

ya, I loved watching them hatch last year(normalxnormal). Though I had a rough year last year and made all the mistakes new people make out of 7 eggs I only got 2 to hatch so this year is already going way better!! yes they are getting much softer so I might see if I can remove the one on top at all that would let the one under it show.

the temps have ran around the 89 degree area in verm./per. mixture mixed as suggested on the breeding ball pythons video. Put into a larger rubbermaid container into a hovabator with extension rings for more room.

to answer the other reply, they are from breeding an male albino to a normal(no alien head) female, so the little eggs are all 100% hets for albino. I am also hoping to be able to see if this no alien head thing might go down the line as both parents don't really have alien heads.

be sure to let me know when they hatch. i can't wait for mine to hatch (another few weeks of waiting for me). can't wait to see what comes out. but the thing with mine is that none of them have started to dent, i'm sure they will soon.
