Do any of you have suggestions or contacts? They are readily available at Australian online shops, but they cannot be shipped here legally. I'm having no luck finding a baby here in the U.S. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks.

Are there really hatchling Mertensi availble for sale in Australia?
I thought almost everything was illegal in Australia.

Most native species in Australia are legal to keep. And since V. mertensi is native to Aus then you can get one.

I was fortunate enough to get some here in the states keep your eyes open for some as Frank over at goanna ranch might have some.
