pacman frog eating question

stage9 Aug 07, 2005 04:33 PM

I purchased a pacman frog two days ago. I have him (not really sure but whatever) in a ten gallon thank with coco bedding, a fake plant for cover, and a water dish. My question concerns his feeding. From what I have heard pacmans are very voracious eaters, and will pretty much eat anything they can. In the store he was being fed crickets. I have tried feeding him, but he will not accept the crickets. I am wondering if this is just because he is adjusting to his new home, or is there something wrong? I know that it is not that he does not see them, because they crawl right past, and on top of him. He is young, about an inch and a half long. He is being housed at room temperature - the temp at the substrate is currently 77.2 F . Should I give him additional heat?
- Thanks for any help!
Eric

Hey, when I got my pacman frog it didn't eat for four days. I wouldn't be worried at all, it's just getting used to its new home.
If it still hasn't eaten in over a week maybe I'd get it checked out. Also, your temp seems fine. 77 degrees is alright for pacman frogs. I live in a colder region so I need an under tank heater, but
if your tank drops lower than 70 then maybe you should get one too.
