Tanks

Hey, I have 2 firebelly toads and a measly tank.
My tank is 5 and a half gallon and can be discribed as, "Well at least I tried." I do enjoy my frogs but they can be boring and unlike a dog you forget about them untill late at night you think to yourself, "I need to fead them." I'm only 12 and the nearest petstore must be driven to. My parents both work full time so my frogs don't always get the attention they desserve. I've had 2 frogs for a year now is that 5 gallon tank and I'm thinking its time to upgrade. I will be buying a 10 gallon tank and an filter for about 20 dollars that works at the bottom of the tank from wal-mart. Petland is just a little expensive when you make 20 dollars a week. My question is How do I get the best tank for my money. I look at some of the pictures posted and the tanks have live plants and moss growing and waterfalls. Mine has a gravle on sloping through the tank letting water fill up on one side. I plan on getting a diveider and moss for the new tank. If someone could post a link or a picture for how to build a really nice tank it would help alot.

The best way to get a cheap aquarium is to just start asking your friends. Chances are someone has an extra 10 gallon sitting around in their basement or garage. If this fails you might consider checking yardsales, often you can get large aquariums for only a few bucks. I'd recomend skipping the Walmart tank setup. Although the price is tempting, an undergravel filter really won't do much good for a tank designed to house fire-bellied toads. Instead, if you are in the market for a filter, save your money and purchase a small Duetto or Fluval. Although they cost about as much as the filter and aquarium at Walmart, they will do a significantly better job and will actually filter out debris rather than just trap it in the gravel. Good luck,

Now that you mention it the local thrift store had a 50 gallon tank for free because of a small leak. I would have taken it but it seamed to heavy to carry back home. I looked on your site and the firebelly toad had a great care sheat. I thought they would like more water. I guess not. I'm going to try the bowl idea to help make changing the water quite a bit easier. Thanks alot, but I'm still open to suggestions.
