pacman tumors?

PacMan333 Aug 07, 2005 09:33 PM

Hi, I got my first albino pacman frog three weeks ago and it looked healthy and alert. I got it cause its throat was pulsing, which i've heard is a healthy sign. It is now three months old and about 3 inches long. I got done with a two day vacation today and saw that it had one half inch bump on its left side and a quarter inch bump on the back right side. Is this normal? It is still eating regularly and pulsing its throat. Plz reply, thanks.

I woke up this morning and had a look at my frog, only to discover it didn't have a single bump on it and it was nice and plump again.
All i can figure is that it had some blubber tuft up on those areas, but it truly looked alarming at the time. Sorry about the confusion.

This kind of thing can be a prey item inside being digested, or even fecal matter. I can actually see the prey moving inside my frog after she eats it, just for a minute, then it stops. Pretty freaky!
Glad everything's OK.

hey, thanks for responding, I found out that after it left an enormous turd it was gone! Wow, I didn't know they were that big. I cleaned the tank out so ammonia wouldn't build up and now he/she is estivating. Mine does that after being stressed out when i clean the cage.

I can't believe the size of poos they leave! Mine's left things that look like they came from my cat before! They won't go for a long time, then drop something you can't believe came from them LOL!
Just to correct your terminology- your frog is just hiding in the dirt, which they love to do. Estivation or brumation is the same as hibernating & is quite noticably different. They do it in the winter, after they've slowed way down on eating or even stopped eating. They develop a weird waxy coating over their entire body & they go to sleep for about 3 months. Not all pacmen do it, but mine has done it both winters I've had her.

Oh, thanks for the lesson. I hope she comes out soon. (most signs point to a girl so what the heck i'm gonna call her a girl). I'm thinking of a name. I like yours, Buffy the cricket slayer, lol. Yeah, I have a small dog so I swear the turd was the size of my dogs! have a look at my other pics above this forum.

It may have eaten too much at once, or it could have eaten something large that could have been poping cause it was so big! Then again it could be gas.
