FIREBELLY TOAD PROBLEM respond quick please

elmothefrog Aug 07, 2005 09:47 PM

i work at a petstore and am currently treating a returned firebelly toad. he's skinny, listless and shedding, which is the case for starving frogs. he's too weak to eat, much less move. I've been force feeding wet cat food through a tiny siringe and he's having no trouble swallowing it. i've watered it down, however, because too much might harm him as he hasnt been eating in quite awhile. He cant get to his water dish, so i'm afraid he might dry out, i've been misting him round the clock when i'm on my shift. he's doing better than yesterday, but i'm afraid i might lose the little guy. I'm putting some bactoderm ointment on his eyes, they've sunken and havnt been open for the past few days. pinheads i put in there a couple days ago are starting to pick on him. what do i do?? how should i care for him? there seems to be slight hope, anyone have any ideas? please help me...

keep him in a tank wiht all or mostly shallow water so he wont dry out. but it has to be quite shallow not past his knees on his hind legs while sitting so he wont drown.

take the crickets out and keep force feeding till he is strong enough to move around and eat on his own.

make sure all his temps are just right.
