Planted Vivaria

charismasuicide Aug 07, 2005 10:35 PM

I've had my share of planted tanks years ago, but I'm starting again - on a larger scale - and am reasearching the issue a little more thoroughly this time.

The 29 gallong tank is going to house juvenile corn snakes.

My first planted tanks had drainage issues - it was just soil, not drain. After that soured my second vivaria had just gravel and then soil. That worked well enough, but I know some people put more work into their drains.

There are alot of options available, but I'm looking to find the drainage soulution I like best.

So although I've plowed through google - I also want to ask your favorite vivaria construction links?

If anyone wants to mention their methods and why they do things that way, that would be great too.

Thank you for your help.

Rather than links, I would suggest buying a copy of Phillipe DeVosjoli's most recent book 'The Art of Keeping Snakes' [$16.95] - I purchased my copy from Zoo Book Sales - www.zoobooksales.com There are a wealth of tips and how-to information in this book covering everything from what you're talking about - drainage - to lighting and best designs for caging.
