Honduran pair housing

BlackburnD Aug 07, 2005 11:20 PM

I was curious what the draw backs are of housing a male and a female Honduran milksnake in the same enclosure. My current enclosure is a 40gal. long tank. They are only a year old and I do plan to attempt breeding them. If someone could tell me the drawbacks of keeping them together it would be appreciated. Thank you.

I wouldn't suggest housing hondurans together unless during the breeding process. They are cannibalistic and will eat or kill eachother most likely (if eating isn't possible due to sizes). Plus, you'd have to take them out each time for feeding and keep them seperate for a while so they dont still hold sent of mouse. It's not worth the effort. Don't mean to shoot ya down here, but I'd hate to see a snake go down for something like this, for some other snakes can be kept together easily...but usually not colubrids (well I don't do/reccomend it).

Ok thank you. I have kept different boas and pythons and housed them together with no issues. I was unaware that all or most colubrids where canabilistic. Thank you for the help.
