I can't find Dandilions ANYWHERE!

clarinet45 Aug 08, 2005 07:35 AM

I want to start a small window box garden of assorted veggies and greens, but not for lack of trying, i can't find a single dandilion in the enitre city. I am walked within 2 or 3 miles of Pittsburgh and can't find any plant!! i wanted to find one or two so i could wait for seeds in autumn, but it's not looking good.
If anyone has any dandilion seeds or plants that you can send to me, i will glady send some postage to you.
thanks!

i live in england so posting them will be difficult but the reason you probably can't find them is becasue they are a weed and most weedkillers are very effective at getting rid of them the best thing would be to look in hedge bottoms. i could send you som e seeds if you still can't find any. i live in the country so they are everywhere especially in my garden.
Let me know

OK, thanks for the quick respond! I'm going to wait and see if anyone in the states responds, it's would be cheaper and easier cause of customs.

try this link.

it is strange that seeds for most plants known as weeds can be hard to find. I was looking for shamrock seeds and the only place I could find then is ebay.
dandelion seeds

Hello,

I can probably send you an envelope with some dandelion seeds from VA if you want. We have one of those horrible lawns that if we killed all the weeds, we'd have no yard left LOL. It's a fall-back from when I was rehabbing wildlife and harvesting clover and such for the bunnies ... my neighbors all have Chem Lawn and beautiful lawns...well, atleast nice lawns where the oak trees aren't. I have dandelions, wild violets, clover (white & red), chickweed, etc (heck, you could make a salad out of my yard LOL). Gotta love it when the lawn guys stop and ask you what you're going to do about your weeds.. and I told the guy that they're green and drought tolerant, we like them! He looked at me like I was insane and had absolutely no idea what to say to that, so slowly backed away with this wide-eyed look.

I order a grazing mix for my tortoises and the beardeds. They have many types of flowers including dandelions as well:
