I have seen a similar problem that was a result of Vitamin A deficiency. Are you using a vitamin supplement?

I had a cham that was sick when that happened. His problem was dehydration because he has always had problems eating and drinking. He can't shoot his tongue. His kidneys were being strained and he started doing this with his eye.
I would not use potatoe to feed my crickets it does not give the right nutrients for a cham. My vet suggested www.cricketfood.com He said he did not like Flukers for chams gutload and he breeds chams so I am following his directions. Also gutload with veggies especially green leafy ones like kale, mustard greens, even mulberry leaves.
One of the safest ways to get nutrients into a cham especially a sick one or one that may be sick is a well gutloaded insect.
I hope I am wrong and he is OK just keep an eye on him (no pun intended)

But it is usually a sign that something is wrong. Besides something bothering his eye it could be dehydration, under or over suplementation, wrong temperatures, wrong humidity, stress ect. ect.

I would recheck everything in his tank for temps and humidity
Pay special attention to hydration. Check his droppings the urates should be very white not orange or dark. Spray him with warm water if he is not too tiny (how old is he?)
See if that stimulates drinking. It may also clear something out of his eye.
Is he eating well? Is he showing other signs of illness?
Is he active and moving around the cage and basking?

when he closes his eye it like 'sucks in" at first

Depending on the time of day he does it, he might also just be getting tired. Sometimes later in the day when my Jackson's is starting to go to sleep, he'll close one eye first and keep looking around with the other, then after a little bit, he closes the other eye. He does it especially when something wakes him up and he starts going back to sleep. His eyes also kind of sink in a little bit and come back out when he closes his eyes. I think that might just be from the way they close their eyes like they kind of squeeze their eyelids when they shut.

my veiled did this around 7-8 pm and had shed that morning and i cleaned his cage an hour earlier so e was probably tired thanx a lot. JK
