what kind is this?

I found these eggs in northern michigan, not the UP. They hatched last night and i'm not sure what kind they are. They are light grey with brownish spots with a black outline.

My first thought was Coluber until I looked at the range map. A couple of possibilities are Storeria, the northern brown, and Heterodon platyrhinos, the eastern hognose. Is the nose upturned? Your pic did not work. This should be easy, since you guys don't have a lot of species to choose from up there, especially without stripes.

Fox snakes come to mind. The juveniles fit your description. Are you in the UP?

Post a photo for confirmation.

I just noticed that you're not from the UP. My next guess would be black rat snakes.
