alligator snapper?

i have been thinking on buying an alligator snapping turtle, does anyone know if they are legal in california, and can you point me twards some good breeders or info on them? thanks ahead

well i guess these goees my whole turtle plan if they are illegal in CA, oh well guess i just get to buy my new water monitor, lol HaHHAHAHA, any other turtle suggestions that are really cool?????

What kind of turtle do you want? There are lots of cool turtles. Choosing a turtle has more to do with your capabilities than popularity though. If you have the space and can keep up with the water quality needs a fly river would neat. Or if you want something a little more like the alligator snapper then a mata mata might be kind of cool. Those have really specialized care needs too. I love all the species I keep. From my red belly to my diamondback. They are all different and great to take care of.

oh i do like mata mata's do you know were i can get some good info on them??? i was also thinkin of a sulcata tortoues

If you are serious about a sulcata make sure you've got LOTS of room outside year round. These are desert tortoises that get very large. PHRatz has one (a rescue). You can find her on the Sulcata forum.

Hello, last I heard if I can recall correctly snapping turtles were not legal in CA. If they are now, almost any herp dealer carries alligator snapping turtles now. A good site to check out is loggerheadacres.com
They specialize in snappers! Good luck
