Yellow Bull and Red Bull

Jason Nelson Aug 08, 2005 10:27 PM

Sorry I didn't used a title like Yellow Bull VS Red Bull but the whole VS thing bugs me. May as well make the a title like Mountain Lion vs Couger vs Puma vs Florida Panther.

The Red Bull is a Kingville TX and she is 2 years old and is about 3' long , pretty small still.
The Yellow Bull is about 4 years old and close to 5' long . These Yellow Bull are not Hypos , no locality data on them . The Guy I got them from called them Texas Bulls . I'm like the name Texas Yellows . These yellows retain there Yellow even as adults .

Anyways Ithought people would like to see 2 color contrast .
I hope you guys enjoy.

Thanks jason

I like #5 a lot, man, you weren't kidding last night when you told me about the contrast in these guys. Congrats on some amazing bulls and great pics too. Thanks for posting them Jason, and i will look forward to some of the other contrasting bull pics you mentioned to me yesterday.

Have a good one,

Gregg F.

Wow, they are beautiful! Thanks for sharing. The red is so vibrant. Is it true that Kingsville Reds don't always turn out this red?

Yup, sure is true!!!!! I got a pair of the Kingsville line from John Ginter right after that awesome picture came out in Reptiles Magazine a few years ago. The pair were both the same color in the beginning. Then the male started to get red and got progresively more red with each shed. The female never got red although she was a good looking snake. I sold off the female and tried to get another that was red--no luck. In fact I have little luck when it comes to my red bulls turning red. I have a year old pair of Crumbly reds from the big parents that Ron of Crawl Space had and they have yet to exhibit the red that some of their siblings show. In the bulls I have seen, the Kingsville are much more intense if they turn red. I also tried a pair of Lubbuck Reds that John Cherry works with. The male was turning a beautiful red but came down with that regurge thing and I lost him. The female is a good looking bull but not red. I've given up--guess I just wasn't meant to have a pair of "red" red bulls!!!!!

Keep the faith Pat I'm sure you'll get those "red" bulls someday. It's amazing all the colors that are being bred with various pits. You just have to look at the Annectens varieties on Jason's site to see the possibilities. I'm sure in a few years red bulls will be more "predictable". At least that's what I'm hoping for

I have a Lubbock red male that is a year old. He's a beautiful snake but not nearly that red.
