They should be offered fruit/veggies when young. Mine like Lettuce, but only eat it every couple of days even though I offer it more then that.

They like Iceberg lettuce most, but Roman lettuce is the most nutritional for them. Try to get the darkest green lettuce for them. Try to offer them all types of fruit and veggies.

I'll have to disagree, iceburg and romain lettuce are bad choices nutrtion wise their useless. i feed mine mosty collard greens, dandelions and sqaush but also ,turnip greens, escrole ,endive and sweet potato
my babies all ate greens since the first day i've had them along with rep-cal pellets. as far as crickets you should be feeding as many small crikets (no larger that teh space between your beardies eyes) as your baby will eat in a sitting. mine all took down 3-4 dozen a day

I didn't say they were very nutritional, I said that they enjoy eating Iceberg lettuce, but darker lettuces, just as most veggies, have more nutritional values.

here is a good site for beardie food.

even if he isn't eating much of his salad, make sure to offer it daily. 12 crickets a day is not enough for a baby, here is a fantastic care sheet to go by.

I have a juvi BD too. I offer him greens (collards, arugula etc)everyday. Sometime he eats it sometime not. I hand feed him fruit and veggies which he will usually take a few bites then loose interest.

Keeping a shallow dish with greens and a bit of water in the tank does 2 things. One, it give them the choice to eat if they want and 2, it generally keeps the crickets in on place. Also, if there is a cricket that was able to make it into the night the cricket will eat the food in the dish and not bother the beardie.

HTH!

Khale is a real dark leafy green. The darker the green the more nutrients it will offer. It is real inexpensive and you can find it in any grocery store. Just make sure that you cut it up small enough so that your bearded dragon can eat it. Congrats on your new addition.

My babies( between the ages of 1.5 months and 16 months) eat greens fairly well. I started when they were two weeks old. Offered it first thing in the morninng before I offered anything else. And they run down to eat some. Then after 1 hour I offer crickets dusted in D3 and Vitamins daily and after a short while I'll give them some silkworms or waxworms, Then another batch of crickets(not dusted) a little while later and before going to bed I offer more greens. The greens I feed are Mustard greens
(their favorite) Collard Greens, Kale, Turnip Greens, Endvine, cactus pads( I have Tortoises too so the beardies get these also) and small amounts of Romaine and other greens I see available at the stores. I mix all of these in a food processor to last a few days. So they get variety all the time. Occassionally I offer grated carrots and squash. On insects I offer crickets, silkworms, waxworms, superworm( babies) and mini mealworms( not the normal kind but the little black worms) other than crickets and silkworms, the other insects are more like treats for them. Kepp offering greens to your beardies, they will start to eat in ever so slowly but find they like it. Good Luck on your new friend. Deb
