The making of a Blizzard - clutch #8

Kerby... Aug 08, 2005 11:21 PM

2 years ago I got a Chocolate Banana (male) from Don Shores and a Banana (female) that was his sibling. Last year I also got a female Chocolate Banana that I will breed to the male next year. This year I tried to breed the Chocolate Banana male to the Banana but he wouldn't do it, so I used my double het male (albino & melanism) that I produced 2 years ago.

So I used my double het male (albino & melanism) and bred it to the female Banana that I got from Don Shores and I produced a Blizzard. No albinos or melanistics either, but it proved that the female Banana is also a double het.

Now, I'm wondering if my 1.1 Chocolate Bananas are het for albinism? And also ....is the Chocolate Banana a form of melansim?...

I will find out next year as I will breed my Chocolate Banana to a Mendota............
