Have you tried UPS? When I first went in to ship my packages they told me absolutely not, no reptiles. I then went to the UPS web site, and printed out where it says reptiles could be shipped (certain species/kinds are outlined), I handed it to the man at the counter who turned me away the week before. I showed him that my packaging matched what was specified on their web site. I put my box together right in front him actually, he saw how well packaged, and contained they are, and from that day he takes my packages with a smile. It seems many places are not up to date on what they UPS allows, or each separate location will pick and chose what they will allow, and what hoops you have to jump through to get permission.
They could ask you to send a test package into the International Safe Transit Association. If that happens then you must follow through with the procedure to gain permission. This could be one of those hoops you must jump through.
If worse comes to worst the USPS will knowingly accept packages marked live reptiles. Of course they can not guarantee over night delivery even on the packages they accept, and are paid for as over night delivery
It really depends on the location where the package needs to be delivered. If close by chances are good it will get their next day. With any shipping company no matter the guarantee you should package live animals like it will take longer then epected. Use heat packs with longer heating hours then needed, Use cold packs, and always use insulated boxes.
I guess the shipping company's have some good reasons. Some morons in the past have shipped venomous, and large reptiles improperly allowing their escape. People are scared of what they do not know or have much experience with. I know if I was in a brown suit
I'd be leary to hold a package to my chest with a cobra or viper in it. The scary thing to them is these packages are not marked live reptile or anything different from an everyday box. When they escape we all (anyone who ships reptiles) gets a black mark.
