mouse bedding odor

aaronblack Aug 09, 2005 10:23 AM

Has anyone found a substrate that eliminates odor like some beddings claim they do? What bedding is the best to use?

I have yet to find a single Type of bedding that will eliminate/ suppress all the urine Odors, but i have found a method that has worked for about 3yrs.

one layer of cat litter (thin layer)

one layer of pine bedding (thickest layer)

one layer or Cedar bedding (thin layer)

Lots of ventilation as well.

hope that helps

rabbit food pellets(alfalpha?)"the cheap stuff 7.00$ 50 lb... a cup or 1/2 cup in each corner of the cage they'll alway GO Pee in a corner, and a small layer on the bottom then use ASPEN on top, this reduces the pet shop smell of urinated pine .this worked well last summer indoors.Chris

You can go up to two weeks without that mouse smell. Drawback pretty expensive.
