I must say, I was skeptical when I first saw this snake posted here. Well...I have seen this snake in person as it was on a friends table in Hamburg for a while. All I have to say is WOW!
There is nothing wrong with this snake, it was fat and healthy and very active. The pics that were posted did this snake no justice. It is truly an amazing animal and had a great time just staring at it for a hour or so. I think I may have lost a sale or two while looking at this snake LOL

I saw in Fauna that there were hets being sold. How can someone sell hets if they haven't proven this snake out? And for $30,000? Wow. If I purchased this and it turned out to be egg stress I would be looking for some answers! Not to say its not genetic but this snake was hatched in 05 right?

Thats what im saying.. Would they be considered 50% hets or 100%?? LOL I guess anything is possible in the ball python world...

has to be a 2004 ..it's too big to be a 2005 at all.....

it's a breedable male........

it's cool

it HAS to be genetic........

like partial scaleless Koi ...carp (mirror).....featherless chickens.........backwards feathered chickens,,,,chickens with no feathers on the head only.......totally scaless fishes....

etc etc etc.........

has to be genetic......already IS cool.......

Here is a pic of my girl. She is only scaleless on her head. The same type of mutation just not as affected. Like the difference between low white and high white pieds? Only time will tell if it is a genetic trait or not. It is to my knowledge that this animal is an early 2005, because pics were first shown in the spring and it was very small then.

How do you know he is guarnteed genetic????? Just because other animals in the past have shown this trait he is automatically genetic?? He needs to be proved out until then he defineatly cannot be said to be genetic.. I love how everyones opinion changes from week to week its funny to see who's full of it and who's not..

I can tell you it is not a burn, she is a CH baby that came in two days before I got her. She has fed every time offered and is up to about 200 grams now. I don't believe in power feeding, just one adult mouse now per week. I will be switching them over to rat pups soon.

I am not saying it is genetic, and honestly I didn't buy her to get rich. She cost me $60 bucks at a show, not a bad price for a healthy, feeding CH female. I have already been offered a male pastel at the beginning of the season from one of the breeders on this forum often. Why didn't I take it? I enjoy having something different, and because I am a biology teacher I have one more thing to show my students that will amaze them. If she turns out to be nothing more than a CH female she will join the other 20 I have, if she is more, bonus.

Are you going to tell me that all the morphs on the market were proven before they were sold to the public? I dint think so.

BackBeat Aug 09, 2005 07:47 PM

I agree that some 'hets' have been offered to the public before they were proven.

Almost always a couple of ads in the classifieds offering animals as heterozygous for an unproven trait. But every one of those ads I've seen have stipulated that it was still an unproven trait.

You know how they're worded......'be the first to prove...' or 'this morphs has not been proven yet, so this is potentially a chance to get in on the ground floor of a new project'......

The ads like this that I've seen list animals for anything from $200-2000.......not 30,000 bucks.

Does anyone know how this would relate to fraud laws?? If the hets dont prove out, could you sue or have the person charged with fraud??.....just a curiosity.
