Egg question....

blazingreptiles Aug 09, 2005 03:46 PM

I have a clutch of eggs that's due to hatch out any day now, 2 of the eggs are REALLY collapsed in, I'm guessing they are slugs right? They aren't mouldy at all or anything, but I'm not sure what to do with them....

I've heard of people slitting the eggs anywhere from day 52-60, or not at all, and was just wondering if I should slit the ones that are totally collapsed and take a peek.

Also, they are still in their original pile from when they were laid, and since I'm on day 50ish, I can take them apart right?

I'm really excited and want everything to go well, I just want to be careful!

Thanks for any advice...

The dented eggs should be fine it is normal for them to dent in a week or so before hatching. If you are not sure how to slit them I would leave them alone. I would not try to pull them apart. If you do be careful the egg shells should be thining out.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Leave them alone!
you are doing fine.
They start deflating at about day 45.
If they are in an incubator with heating elements make sure that your containers are securly shut so the babies cannot get into the heating element.
When they pip they may spend a few days hanging out in the eggs. That is normal.
Good luck!
