Hey; Do you live in an apartment building? Snakes will commonly (and eventually) go down the toilet in apartment buildings. As a precausion, close toilet lids, move things it could use to get into a sink/toilet/drain or anything. Check HEAT SOURCES, behind/under loose things such as clothes, papers. I had a friend find his in a small space behind a rubber mat tile under his sink (going virtically from the floor, meeting the cabinet). Make sure your snake can't go down the air conditioning or anything like that. leave out water (in many places) or possibly a F/T mouse.
--I had an adult (was bit over 4' 6" feet at the time) female honduran escape a few weeks after laying a clutch of eggs. After finding a few odds and ends in the snake room knocked over, and on my 5 foot tall(at least) sink dresser was all my old out dated medicine and stuff, knocked out of my mirror cabinet. Off the sink seemed to lead right to the open toilet. Moral of the story I found her EIGHT months later in my basement playing music with my dad (rehearsing for a benefit concert
, Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" was the song). Little water, no food (after a month after the clutch!), in a basement that hit 40degrees F. Musta been near the heater. Found a shedding 9 months later.
--Look for signs of feces, sheds, knocked over items, etc. I'd hate to see a snake gone. I think your chances are good if you take precausions, but your mom just might find out. I'd play it safe and make sure she's careful. A pueblan won't hurt anyone, but a unknowing foot...mabey. GOOD LUCK!
