Where in the desert did you find your Helleri? I run a business in the Los Angeles area removing rattlesnakes from people’s properties, and every time the snake is a Helleri. It seems that is the only venomous snake we have in our hills. Whenever we receive calls from the desert communities, the snakes are Mojave Greens.
I have spent many nights in the desert wondering if Southern Pacific’s live here. I think in a post a little lower; you indicated that these were photographed in the Palm Springs area? When I asked where in the desert? I mean was it on the hill sides or was it on the flatland?
Thanks

Hi Jason
Yes the animal in question was found on the flats, near Snow Creek within 100 yards of a winder and ruber found the evening before. The location is not typical for helleri IMO, so either it was a transient or it was washed down from higher up the mountain during one of our recent flash floods.
Elevation for the location is not low for helleri, but it is an odd place to find one for sure.
