I have heard a few stories about tigris occuring in the Tanks, but have never seen one. Has anyone here ever observed tigris in the White Tanks, or know of a substantiated report(s) of them occuring there?
Thanks, Bill

I don't think I have ever heard of someone finding a tiger in the white tanks. The estrellas are the closest range I have seen them in. I don't really see a reason why they wouldn't be there but I have only ever seen specks out there.
Maybe someone like Marty would know if he still reads this forum.
....otta just get out there n' find out what is there...& then retain the fieldnotes!
I saw a collared [eastern] today & what I believe is their Northern periphery to the Phx-metro...
I suggest...we consider all our Az distribution / occurance ?'s...possibly post em for input & then I would be willing to run em past a couple of Az-herp-dist...gurus...
FWIW...databases will never be as current nor reliable....as a recent field sighting...

I dont recall who it was that told me, perhaps marty or trevor, that tigris had been seen on the peak of the White Tanks while with ADFG staff. They probably have the data on it if one was indeed found there.

It may have been me that mentioned that sighting quite a while ago. I do know someone who is fairly knowledgeable in crotes that hitched a ride to the peak with a park ranger. He said he spotted two tigris up there in just a matter of minutes. Unfortunately, he didn't think he was able to collect in the park so he left them. I just have to wonder if they could've been mitchelli?? Though from the habitat he described, it is more likely that they were indeed tigris.
I agree with regal ringneck, I should lace up the hiking boots and head for the peak. I'm pretty sure you can hike it, but not drive it?? Anyone up for a hike? I live within minutes of the White Tanks.
By the way lateralis, you got me excited when I saw the image icon next to your post. I thought you were going to show me a pic of a Tanks tigris!
Cheers, Bill
Sorry Bill!
I found that big girl in SNP west and just love to post her when the tigris comments pop up. She was loaded with babies, unfortunately I was not around when they entered the world and dispersed; I would have passed the cohibas around.
Cheers
Brett
Where or what is "SNP west"?? Been scratching my head trying to figure this one out!
Cheers, Bill
