Correct Caiman Temperatures

redbeard92 Aug 10, 2005 02:57 PM

Hello Everyone,

I just received my infrared temperature gun and took a few readings from my caimans enclosure. I don't have any problems, but am crious if I should make a few adjustments.

His enclosure is 8' wide by 10' deep and 6' high made of plywood with a 4' wide 5' tall screen opening. Inside the enclosure is an approximately 6' long x 5' wide irregular shaped prefab pond with a comperable irregularly shaped land area.

My readings were as follows: Water surface 79-80 degrees, wall surfaces varied from 81-82 degrees and closest rock surface to heat emmiter was 92 degrees, cooling accordingly with distance.

Does this sound ok? Any input would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, the caiman's about 5.5 feet and 9 years old.

Thank you,

Rob

Hi,

I would have to say that your temps sound fine to me. I personally dont see anything wrong with them.

Just thought I'd post a few photos - first ones taken since 2003.

I can't wait to see them. So far from just the little that I have seen it looks good.

Great looking caiman by the way!
