Feeding idea

buffysmom Aug 10, 2005 06:55 PM

Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum, but old on some of the others. I just got my first cresties (a six week old & a proven adult female) this weekend at the Wasatch Reptile Expo & I'm loving them!

I bought "The Crested Gecko in Captivity" book & made up a batch of the food recipe it recommended (two 6 oz bottles of fruit baby food, one 2.5 oz bottle of meat baby food, mixed w/ 1/2 tsp. of vitamin/mineral/calcium supplement. This is for hatchlings. I've made a batch w/o the supplement for the adult & will give her a supplemented batch every 1-2 weeks). I then dropped small teaspoons of the mixture onto foil & froze them, making little crestie food chips. They thaw in just a few minutes at room temp & will feed my little guys for quite some time.
What do you think of this idea?

Seems like it would work pretty well. Generally I've found that cresteds prefer a fruit baby food and not a meat one, but I don't see why this wouldn't work.

The other book I HIGHLY recommend is Philippe de Vosjoli's book:
