Mystery concerning Female BP's tummy

Liann Aug 10, 2005 08:37 PM

I have had this new girl for over a month now and have noticed something very strange about her underside. It's hard to describe but instead of a nice flat underside, she has what looks like a ridge down the center. When you hold her it actually looks like she is moving around inside of her skin and if you let her relax, her shape relaxes in what I can only describe as a ridge down the length of the back 2/3rds of her body. If you run you hand firmly down her underside, you can "straighten" her back out again, but the shape doesn't really hold. I have not seen anythink like this with any of my other BP's. I'm wondering if she is physically "challenged" or is actually ill. For information sake, she is 880 grams, close to three feet if not a few inches more (wiggly little bugger doesn't like to be measured) and currently she has not eaten for me. Her skin is not saggy or wrinkly or dehydrated. The cool side of her enclosure is around 78 and the warm side is 89. I have not noticed any other problems with her, scales look clean, no wheezing or discharge around the nose or mouth. If I flip her on her back, she has no problem righting herself. Her body just looks "odd". If it's just cosmetic, I can handle it, but if it's something else, that's another story. Any ideas?

I will try to add a picture to this post soon if that will help. My explanation is probably clear as mud!

Well I'm not sure about the ridge thing, I only seen ridges on BP's if they were too skinny.

Your temps are too low though, your hot side should be at 92-95 and your cool side 80. She won't eat if it is cold because she won't be able to digest.

I think the temps are fine but would like to see a picture of this ridge.
