Overfeeding?

louie1 Aug 10, 2005 09:57 PM

Is it possible to overfeed in one sitting? All but one of my females always seem to want more food. I feed them 1 or 2 mice per sitting maybe even 3. They are all over 500g and then I go a day or two and offer them some more. They defecate just fine and are growing quickly as you can imaging; I want to if I should feed them until they stop eating in one sitting, (I throw them in one by one) or just keep doing what I am doing? I hope this makes sense

Thanks,
Louie

Try feeding them small rats. The food item should be the same thickness as the thickest part of the snakes body. If you feed this every week, then even if your snakes act hungry, they're just looking for more food because thats their instinct. In the wild they wouldn't know when they're next meal will come around, so they're always ready for more than they need.

So yes, you can overfeed, but if you follow the general size rules, you won't over or underfeed your snake.
