My name is Joe Rollo, otherwise known as Bci Joe, Joey, Juice, Rollo, or 'The Big Boss'.. lol
I will be 29 years old this Monday, August 15th, and will probably celebrate it with overtime at the office! LOL
I was born, raised and live in Brooklyn, New York.
I run a Performance Management / Capacity Analysis team for R&D Systems Programming/Systems Administration Department here at Bloomberg.
Bloomberg is the media company the Mayor of NY owns... well it is much more than just media! Closing in on 10,000 employess and offices worldwide.
I live at home alone, for nearly 10 years now, and have been at Bloomberg for 6 years.
I did live in Miami, Fl for a few years, couldn't really take it at the time, and flew back for the interview to Bloomberg.
My passion is Colombian Boas, and i've also found a sweet spot for these Centrals lately...
I currently have between 125 - 150 snakes. I would say 10-12 are Ball Pythons, the rest are Boas. Tons of Boaphile cages... love them!
I had a wonderful girlfriend not too long ago, and we planned to get married, quit out jobs, and expand the reptile business, but things change, and sometimes people don't.. lol
I still plan to quit work and expand the business sooner or later..
No more wedding plans for anytime soon...
I love music and I love animals. I'll not go into work to save an injured bird I find near my bus stop. I would adopt a limbless dog because I feel bad, and because I would think he deserves so much better, especially for fighting and making it so far.
I've had just about every animal I could get my hands on at one point or another, but now just have time for the snakes.
Some recent aquisitions....
03 Leopard Boa female received last night from Jeremy Stone. AWESOME ANIMAL!!!!!
7.5' long Nicaraguan Boa I received last night from JNJ Reptiles. This animal was a rescue with lots of scars and weighing nothing.. After receiving her and looking her over, she is also awesome and you would never think she had such a rough past.
I also caught a Cockatiel two weeks ago!
NY has been overrun with Quaker Parakeets lately... they are building HUGE nests on all light posts, electrical posts, and they are overwhelming the trees and parks in the area.
I was bike riding through a park, listening and watching them, when i almost ran over the cockatiel!
I scared him and he flew up about 12 feet into a tree.
I tried calling him and such, trying not to scare him, but nothing. I approached closer, and finally was next to the tree and noticed he wasn't scared.
I started to pull down the branches so to get him closer to me, then finally jumped up and was able to grab the bottom of him.
He had a sharp beak abd put a few holes in my fingers! but he is beautiful and healthy and made my cousin very happy.
My cousin caught one last year, and after it became his favorite pet and the house mascot, it escaped, and the family was heart broken. Great to see people smile.
Sory for the rant... it's Friday.. been a looong, rough week.
Hope to see you all in Daytona!
Take care, Joe Rollo - Bci Joe
