Going to Buy My first Corn, any tips??

Mydnite_Gypsy Aug 11, 2005 09:17 AM

Hello everyone. I have been a lurker on here for abit and decided to post. Me and my bf are going to pick up our frist corn today, and well although I know the basics, I was wondering if there are anything I should look for. These are last years hatchlings and are eating well. What I was wondering really about is an enclosure.....I dont have alot of money to spend on one today, and really not sure what all I need, so any advice is welcome. Thanks alot!

ask the seller about mites.
you dont want to buy a snake from a place that has mites all over the place NIGHTMARE!!!
look at the cage, is it kept clean?

a glass tank with a good lid and vents, a heatmat (cheapest way), water bowl, cork hide, stick on thermometer.
easy.

I knew a guy that did that..he had black rats and large red sided garters and watersnakes and even more stuff....he left them all run all over the house....well.....apartment he rented..

yes they make a mes.......yes they at times get squished.....or stuck in the back of the microwave.....

yes the 6 foot 6 inch black rat came out from under and layed on top of the couch to watch TV with them....I saw it ......cool snake.never bit.......I should have never given them that guy...

......*(he got rid of all snakes and tried the free roaming idea with pet rats too then.).........
*(yes he was a patient at the VA hospital.....duh...)

I'm probably posting too late, but set up the enclosure before getting the snake. That way you'll be able to troubleshoot at leisure. It took me four days to set up things satisfactorily for my king!
Aquarium with sliding top lid (10 gallon okay for temporary baby container), high quality thermostat, reliable heat source, rheostat to control heat source, water dish. See that your first pet can take frozen/thawed food. Get hideboxes (little cardboard boxes work but need replacing now and then) and for the substrate, if you're on a budget use newspaper.
Good luck.
Oh, and getting good books is a really good idea.
