Longnose snake hatchling size difference:

Oxyrhopus Aug 11, 2005 10:54 AM

I have seen some hatchlings look a bit difference size-wise however these two take the cake. When this big one was found this morning I examined the egg of the small one and discovered an undeveloped snake. As such, twins were being developed and one did not make it which which attributes to the others small size.

The bigger one looks like he enjoyed that yolk.

They look like little cali kings.

That has to be one of the stoutist hatchlings I've encountered. I mean I checked the inside of his egg also and it was so empty that it was not even wet he absorbed so much of it. I bet he goes a month before even getting hungry. He is gonna take a scented dayold pink as his first meal whereas his sibling will get a lizard tail or perhaps a new born anole. What is weird is that the big one came from a flat collapsed egg. How he hid his bulk in that egg I don't know but he did. And to think and admit that I did indeed throw those eggs in the garbage can three weeks ago and took them out later for the sake of exploring the eggs one day when they were eventually determined to be fully rotted. I will never throw an egg away again. Maybe I cannot say never. Once I saved a south American turtle egg for many months and after waiting almost a year I twisted a needle into it to see if something was living in there. It suddenly popped like a fire cracker and the air was filled with a bad sulfur smell. To say it stunk would be an understatement. Now that is one egg I wish I threw out. lol.

The larger one is 8.5 and the smaller was a surprising 7.25 inches long. However the larger had twice the girth of the smaller one.
