All-Ohio reptile show worth the 4hr drive?

h0mersimps0n Jul 17, 2003 12:12 AM

I'll be driving in from ERIE PA and according to Mapquest it takes 4hrs and 1 min to get to the show. I'd probably leave around 6am so I could get there within the first hour of the show (as always be on the hunt for a nice Miami/Charcoal)...

Who has been there? Is it nice? is it big? Is it worth 4 hrs in the car alone?

thanks!

After the recent bust that happened there, I'd be wary of going to that show.

I've heard that there have always been some pretty shady vendors there.

Maybe after the bust though, it will be better because the bad vendors will no longer be there.

Too bad you didn't think of coming to the NOAH showcase (in Berea) this past Sunday. I thought it was a nice show, however, not especially for cornsnakes. I think I only saw 3 or 4 vendors with corns, and most of them were just normals or albinos.

I am DEFINITELY going to the beaver valley show in PA

There will be another NOAH show on September 14. $3 to get in.

There should be more people with cornsnakes by then. But I don't know of anyone, specifically that breeds miamis or charcoals. They might, but I'm not aware of them (I've never been interested in those 2 morphs).

I'm sure it's not as big as the All-Ohio show, but I was just wondering. Especially when this show is a little closer than the All-Ohio one.

The number of vendors obviously flucuates each time, but I know that they have 80 tables to split among the many vendors. So at most, 80 vendors, but it's probably more like 60-70.

is that the same as the all-OHIO?

The organization is called NOAH because is it the Northern Ohio Association of Herpetologists, based in Cleveland.

The show is held every other month at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, in Berea.

The next show is Sunday, Sept. 14.

The Ohio show is very nice. They always have corns there. No one is going to arrest you for going . I personally think the cops were acting a lot more shady than any of the vendors ever did. But for this upcoming show, it might not be that great because people might be scared. It might be best to plan your first trip for the August show.

I agree. A couple of months ago, I would have said, "Go for it!"
But now you may want to let things to settle down a bit before making a long journey. Maybe ask the same question in a month or two, and we can let you know how it's going. I guess I will buzz on over, since it's about half an hour for me. Hopefully they haven't scared too many off, although I bet some of the out-of-staters will have to think twice with some of the pricey regs regarding proof of health. Duffy
