Female activity before Egg Laying

NextRev37 Aug 11, 2005 02:34 PM

Does anyone know how a female will act before she lays eggs. I have a female who digs under a rock and lays there for most of the day. Is this something a pregnant collard lizard would do?

make sure your rocks are planted on the bottom of the cage because if she digs under it and it shifts, well she could die. i had it happen last year and i thought i had planted the rock all the way to the bottom, it was not a pretty sight to come home to.
but yes, the girls like to dig tunnels to lay the eggs in, she will need some damp sand like two inches deep. i just make a big mound in the corner and keep it damp for them. some people add two bricks sticking out and put a flat rock on top to make them a little private area to dig, but my girls just never really seemed to "dig" that idea (oh god i love being PUNNY)
