Ringneck Neonate

SalatoCenterKY Aug 12, 2005 10:20 AM

What would I feed a ringneck neonate? I'm thinking small drift worms. Any other ideas?

That's a good start. We raised a group of neonate No. Ringnecks on a diet of red back salamanders (larval form). Realizing that finding a steady diet of these amphibians was going to be difficult, we soon began scenting techniques with pinky parts. It didn't seem too long before they were gulping down full grown pink mice. Now I realize that this isn't their natural diet but these snakes thrived and lived quite long in captivity on the scented mouse diet (although during certain times of the year, we would provide adult red backed salamanders when available). We also provided periodic vitamin supplements. Hope this helps.
