Ant Farm

Ants!
This time of year we always have trouble with ants and spiders coming in the house. Yesterday I came in to check on the boys and they were all together on the same branch against the glass I looked closer and the tank was over run by ants. I have a drip wall against the back and they were setting up a very nice colony. We just got new windows put in and they were not sealed properly I found their entrance. This all happened in about 24 hrs. So now the tank has been stripped and flooded the phants. were fine and are in a temp. setup right now. My question does any one know any non poisonous ant deterrent I can leave around the room, all I had was talc which I could vacuum up later before I brought them back but I don’t think the air born portion would be safe for them.
Any suggestions?

i think i remember hearing something like if you have your setup on a table, you can fill little caps with dishwashing detergent and place the table legs in that, and the ants wont cross it.
