It could not be the Friday before Daytona and your dog could look like this. But he sure is manly sporting his fu-man-chu and chest hair. And the Guyanan doesn't hurt. Have a great weekend everyone and have a safe trip to Florida.

He is a crested and used to be a little money making stud. Mexican hairless (Xoloitzcuintli) are quite a bit less common. I'm not sure of any Xolo breeders, but try:

Good luck!

P.S. You don't want a Xolo anyway. Get a crested! And also check out the Inca Hairless (other names: Peruvian Inca Orchid, Moonflower Dog, and Perro Flora) and the American Hairless Terrier.
So I took a quick glance and thought I liked the Xolo's best, but I don't know much else about them..
From your experience, why would you recommend the crested above the others?
thanks, Joe

The just prefer the cresteds apearance. If you like very little hair, go with one of the other hairless breeds. The cresteds get that long hair only on the head, face, feet and tail. All you have to do is keep the minimal body hair shaved. They are really cool looking when they get a couple years old and have the long hair similar to a horse. Just my opinion. Also, it is going to be a lot easier for you to track down a crested that looks like you want him/her to look. There are more breeders and the bloodlines are more diversified. Many breeders have some seperate imported blood in their lines. And I'm not definite on the health concerns of the other breeds, but cresteds are as healthy as they get. The only concern I've ever seen in the breed is dental related, and you get that in almost all toy and mini breeds. And I've seen dozens of these guys. I'm not speaking from only the little guy in the pic. And you will read info that the hairless guys should not go out in the sun. That's load of schnizzle. They are just like people. If your dog is light skinned, he will be more sensitive to the sun. Put sun block on him. And of course they will get sunburn if you have them outside all day in the sun. The darker skin dogs are just like darker skinned people and don't need sunscreen unless a long day outside is planned. If you have any specific questions, feel free to shoot me an email. I'm familiar with about 400 dog breeds and have dealt with most of them. Hope the info helped.
