The first question is what is the size of the baby.
Very young hatchlings normally have softer shells because
they have to be flexible in the egg. They harden up
as they get a little older.

You need to give information about set-up, diet, lighting
etc.

the soft shell turtle is alittle over an inch long, I havent had the turtle that long it has eaten crickets and lean turkey and that is it. I got the turtle in Chinatown NYC...i hope you can help me, thanks

The crickets are good but the turkey should only be an occasional treat. If it's lunchmeat turkey, don't give it at all since that's usually got a lot of salt.

Crickets, mealworms, guppies or minnow, Reptomin (break the sticks into small pieces), dark leafy greens are all good.

What type of setup do you have the turtle in? Tank size? Water depth? Water temperature? Basking area temperature? Do you have a UVB light?
