Here is a photo comparison of my red Ocean Co. northern pine from when I purchased him as a hatchling last year until now. He was so red as a baby, and I had never seen a baby northern that red before, making baby/young Okeetee corns look lame in color! LOL! Here is the first pic:

Quite a change, don't ya think? It gave me some food for thought on the subject on how to pick out baby northerns as far as what color you are hoping they will be growing up as. In some cases, there may not be a definite sustain of color from birth to adulthood...and in some cases, there may be. My northern with the brightest white did retain his white and it has intensified with age. After seeing the reddest northern I personally ever saw age and lose the red this much in one year, I am now convinced you never can tell 100%.
Overall, the shock of seeing this big of a change in color in this red male has made watching him grow such a pleasant experience and not disappointing. Kind of like seeing deppei and jani age,....you never know what you will get.
