i posted earlier about an egg that is ready to hatch and i am going out of town. i have decided to take the incubator to my family's and they will care for the hatchling if it comes. i need to bring the tank setup with me; i have a small two and a half gallon glass tank and have placed a mini UTH under 1/3 of the tank botton. i have three small hides including a moist hide and have lined the botton with reptile carpet and paper towels. i have measured temp. on the hot spot and the temp between the carpet and the bottom of the tank is about 115 f. On top of the carpet and paper towels the temp. is 94 f with an ambient temp. of about 82 f. with all my other UTH's i use ample substrate so the temp. at the tank bottom is not a concern. where do i need to measure the hot spot temp? i am willing to purchase a thermostat but need to know the proper UTH hot spot measurement with such minimal substrate. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks again
