WHITEWATER Report - last night 8/11/05

Went for a late road cruise last night on whitewater...arrived at
11:30 pm / 88 degrees.

Very little rodent activity- lots of shooting stars though!!!!
ACtually had the road all to ourselves!!!!!!!!No other herpers out! just meteor shower watchers.

We saw...

2 - Ruber's AOR
2 - night snakes AOR
1 - shovelnose AOR
1 - juv. longnose black/ white (no red anywhere) AOR
1 - banded gecko AOR
2 - red racers DOR
1 - cal kingsnake DOR
TMTC - toads&treefrogs AOR

Thought we had a great opportunity to maybe see a boa, no such luck...left at 4am for the 2hr drive back to LongBeach. Temp was still low 80's at WW and 75 at verbenia! Sincerely, JD

I am beginning to think this is how it is gonna be the rest of the year, absolutely no consistancy. Oh well, atleast you found a few things, it sounds a lot like my night there a few weeks ago. A ruber, a nightsnake 2 geckos amd a leafnose. Have any pics?

Hey Bud, No Pictures, I've gotta charge the camera batts. I'm going for an august idaho/sierra boa hunt next week... wish me luck Ihave never seen a rocky mtn.rubber boa in 2yrs. of looking 6 night drives 3 rock flips. I have a pair of pacifics, and the spot for those. I would also like to see a rosy, you know i caught 3 in 15min. 18 years ago at verbenia and Ive never seen anotheR!!!!!!!!!! ITS LOOKING LIKE MAYBE NOT 'TILL NEXT YEAR! Even though it was a decent year caught my first blind snake, leafnosed, blackheaded,saw and caught maybe 40 snakes total. Still looking for a lyre snake...I have never seen a AOR Lyre ever in 25yrs of driving!Peace i drive audi a4 if ya see me out there. James
