whites tree frogs and rain chamber question

phantoms Aug 12, 2005 09:26 PM

this might be a little late in the season, but thought i would try anyways.....so i set up a rain chamber using a 29 gallon tank. im just curious about the water flow coming out of the holes i punched in the tube going around the tank. should it be more of a drip or a steady stream of water. its not coming out real hard like it would push a frog under the water or anything. what have others used? i have read the breeding info from the online site that i found through here and the tid bit in the care and breeding of popular treefrogs but none of them describe how hard the water it soming out. and yes i have a corner of the tank with no water hitting it. thanks for any info

Well, as the name "rain chamber" might suggest, you are trying to simulate rain (duh!). So I would think that the best method would be to maybe alter back and forth from a hard flow to a soft flow, if that's possible. If the frogs seem stressed though, adjust the flow accordingly. What race are you breeding BTW, and how many frog do you have? Let us know how it goes. Good Luck.

gee i wonder why people wouldnt want to post questions on here. they are met with sarcasm.............what am i breeding? well like i said in my original post "whites treefrogs"...duh.....how was that for sarcasm? :P if by race you mean from what land mass are my frogs from than i can tell you i am not sure. the female is always a nice green. sold as a blue whites but is green. maybe, just maybe with a tint of blue in her. my understanding is that the blues are from australia so if that is what i have then that is what i have. the other i am not sure of. it was a gift bought from a pet store. sold to her as cb but i doubt it is. is mostly brown but at night turns an olvie green to green color. so from that description it could be from a surrounding island. have you bred anything? i havent. thats why i was asking for someone who might have or has seen it done. i was asking about the flow that is best. i know rain comes down hard and soft .........again duh :P i was asking for what flow rate successful breeders have had. i only have 2 frogs. i know i would have better luck with multiple males but i dont have any. oh well. kinda just doing this for fun. thanks for the sarcasm.

wow... you took that the wrong way. The "duh" comment was intended for poking fun at myself. No sarcasm toward you or your post. Check my other posts, I never respond to questions in the manner you feel I did yours. I was serious about adjusting the flow rate, especially if you are unsure what type of flow you want.

No, have not bred any white's before, but I know enough about it to be "qualified" to answer your post.

Anyway, by "race" I meant Indonesian or Australian. Indo white's are generally a little more "rolly" if that makes sense. And, yes, you would have more success breeding with a group.
